Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, offers the latest generation Full Endoscopic Spine Surgery to its patients
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, has become the first and only hospital in the State of Alaska to offer pioneering full-endoscopic spine surgery to its patients. It is one of a handful of hospitals in the Western US that are able to offer patients this latest generation of Spine Surgery.
The equipment, made by German manufacturer RIWOspine GmbH, which has a US subsidiary RIWOspine Inc. based in Atlanta, enables keyhole surgery for procedures previously done in an open fashion. The keyhole procedures, enable the patient to go home the same day, with less scarring and quicker rehabilitation to normal life.
Andy Singh MD, Regional Director, RIWOspine Inc, said “We are very proud to work with Dr Stewart Kerr and the team at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, in introducing this technology for the benefit of patients.”
RIWOspine worked closely with the staff at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital to introduce the new technology. The new technology enables operations to be carried out via a tiny incision (1 cm), which ultimately results in less blood loss and less risk of infection as well as quicker recovery. This ultimately means better patient outcomes.
